Paper accepted in Mitochondrion

Our manuscript “The integrity and assay performance of tissue mitochondrial DNA is considerably affected by choice of isolation method” has been accepted in Mitochondrion. We systematically compare mtDNA isolation methods and show that the highest integrity tissue mtDNA is achieved when isolating DNA from enriched/purified mitochondria. For a higher yield, an alternative is to pulverize the frozen tissue, a method that yields higher integrity mtDNA than the most traditional procedure based on proteinaseK/SDS treatment of thawed tissue.
